With the easy availability of different editors generally people do not spend much time into hardcore coding. I have always believed that one should know the engine which is running at the back-end. In this case it is HTML coding. If we know the language on our own then we can take the help of editors to build the skeleton and then use our knowledge to fine-tune it.

I agree. HTML editors or integrated development environment tools can speed up our web development process. But there is no subsitute for learning the very basic HTML coding. It definitely helps us better solve problems in our codes.

It's pretty dangerous to be learning about web design and not knowing HTML. It's the basis of everything and if you want to be able to truly design web sites, you need to know tricks of the language to make it work the best for you.

HTML has been around for as long as the internet has been around and to be honest I don't see its usage declining in the near future. Several revisions have been done such as XHTML 1.0 and 1.1 and I'm pretty sure that there'll be more to come in the future. Even PHP based websites have HTML code within them despite being heavily decorated with PHP functions. HTML is here to stay for quite some time and if you have the chance to learn it, grab it with both hands.

Yeah I have to agree with that...I dont see it dying out at all to be honest...maybe it might be phased out over a period of years but definitely not abruptly.

I'm new to HTML and I intend to learn it...so hopefully it won't be cast aside and hardly used or else it would be a waste of my time...and I'd be quite annoyed to be honest...I really don't see it being abandoned.

There's no way it's going to be abandoned.  It too ubiquitous.

I have always used html for my gaming site and find it to be very adequate and also easy to teach others so they can set up pages as well. I don't see it becoming obsolete at all. Even beginners can grasp it.
